This new version
brings several improvements and new tools for a more friendly use.
TECHNIQUES
New Pulsed Techniques:
- SWV: Square wave Voltammetry
- DNPV: Differential Normal Pulse Voltammetry
- NPV: Normal Pulsed Voltammetry
- RNPV: Reverse Normal Pulsed Voltammetry
- DPA: Differential Pulse Amperometry

New Cyclic Voltammetry Advanced CVA: with:
- possibility to hold the initial, each vertex and the final potential
for a given time and to record the current
- a table to link sequences with different parameters
- a recording condition on the cycle number
- reverse scan option that inverts the potential scan without to
modify the vertex limits
New Corrosion applications:
- Ecorr versus time EVT
- Corrosimetry (Rp vs. time) CM: offers the possibility to make
successive linear polarizations around Ecorr and to calculate and plot
Rp, Icorr and Ecorr vs. time
New determination of the ohmic drop (ZIR): using PEIS for a high
frequency with possibility to set and use the compensated ohmic drop into
the following linked techniques.
NEW FEATURES
Import text data files from other electrochemical software into EC-Lab
with an automatic or a manual detection of the file columns.
Possibility to move up and move down a technique within a set of linked
techniques.
GRAPH & MATH TOOLS
New possibilities
- Comment zones with an arrow can be added on the graph.
- The properties of the zone are adjustable and the number of added
zones is not limited.
- The current acquired data point is displayed in another colour to
make the reading easier.
- XY1 proportional display mode is now automatically activated with
Nyquist representation
New fits and analysis
- Smoothing option using sliding average windows (a .mpp file is
generated)
- Circular fit

New display modes: New admittance determination and black representation
with EIS files

New menu item: “Edit surface and mass” to edit and be able to modify the
electrode surface area and the characteristic mass used for the density
plot.
Improvements
- The autoscaling functions have been improved.
- The traces style switches automatically into "lines" (i.e. fast
display mode) in running mode if graph optimisations are activated (menu
Config -> Options -> General).
- The contents of the legends are automatically simplified according
to the files displayed.
- The print window takes the current analysis in progress into
account.
ERGONOMY AND OTHER CAPABILITIES
- The potential range is now defined and adjustable for a better potential
resolution on the top of the “Parameter settings” tab rather than in the
“Advanced settings” tab.
- The cycle number is automatically calculated and generated for the
Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), the CV advanced and the Staircase Voltammetry (SV).
- Up to 20 techniques (against 10 before) can now be linked in an
experiment.
- Possibility to enter several current ranges into the parameters table
(on different sequences) with the condition that each I range change follows
an OCV period. By the same way, it is now not necessary to select "turn to
OCV between techniques" to have different I ranges between linked techniques
if there are OCV periods within the individual techniques before the I range
changes.
- A graphic description of the settings has been added into the setting
window with an icon.
- A "Display" button has been added in the “process off line” window to
display directly the processed file into a graphic window without to load
it.
- Possibility to configure the tool bar buttons with the mouse right
click.
- For MG, MP, CA and CP techniques : the first and last data points are
not recorded anymore when no recording conditions are defined.
- A new window has been added to group or synchronize channels (menu: Edit,
Group / Synchronize Channel #).

- It is now possible to stop synchronized channels separately
- CA technique modification: the IM limit (on |I|) has been replaced by an
Imax and Imin limits (on I)
- The user can now add his own graphic representations to the fast graphic
display list (with a edit button in the selector window)

- It is now possible to loop on the same sequence for the battery
techniques (GCPL#, PCGA & APGC).
- Resistance values can now be represented in milli and micro ohms.
- In the table, a grey cell on the title row and a grey cell on the title
column mark and locate the selected cell.
- The instruments data buffer size has been increased by a factor of 2.5
for the new instruments (VMP3, VSP HCP-803 and EPP series with a new ARM
communication board). For example, for the CA technique the number of
buffered data points as been increased from 16 000 to 40 000 for a 16
channels configuration.
- New data process: capacitance calculation: C= Q/V
- New data process in the capacity and energy per cycle process: energy
(total, charge, discharge energy)
Error corrections:
- USB disconnection error (new devices only)
- potential scans with <I> recording were not properly working with IR
compensation (slow scan case...)
- Several bad points were recorded at the beginning of the potential scans
with the automatic I range (VMP2 & VSP, VMP3 only).
- It is now possible to link impedance techniques with other ones even if
Ece and (or) Analog In# recording are selected.
- Process Data: the calculation of Q charge and Q discharge per cycle was
not always done properly, because of the cycles definition. The user can now
select the cycle definition:
(1) loop counter changes
or
(2) charge / discharge alternance (the second option being more adapted to
the GCPL techniques)
- For the impedance techniques, the last point of the frequency list
displayed with the "Show frequencies >>" button was not properly written
- DPV: modification of the reverse scan that was not properly done
- The content of the clipboard was lost when the print window was opened
- The print window was generating memory leaks
- The copy data function was very slow for huge files
- Strange behaviours could occur when the graphic windows were maximized/minimized
- The previous traces styles were lost when switching of representation
with the quick plot selector
- Minor other corrections
