Application Note #2 - RSC

Control through Heka software

Driving the RSC-100, -160 & -200 can be done using one of the analog output of the Heka ITC-16, ITC-18 or EPC-9

Hardware connection :

Connect the Analog In on the rear panel of the RSC to the D/A output of the amplifier :

  • 0, 1, 2 or 3 in case of ITC-16 and ITC-18
  • 0 or 1 in case of EPC-9 or EPC-9 double

Pulse software configuration.

Go to the Pulse Generator Window (pgf) :

The "trigger" can be used to control the voltage at a DA output for the RSC. The "trigger" can be of any voltage in the range of +/-10 V, and can be longer than the actual pulse sequence.

Trigger (lower right corner): set the "trigger" according to your requirements :

  • choose time and length (ms)
  • choose voltage (mV) using the following rule :
    • 0mV: no effect
    • 100mV: valve #1, tube #1
    • 200mV: valve #2, tube #2
    • ...
    • 2000mV: valve #20, tube #20, etc.

For the timing of the voltage pulses :

Check sweep interval and, in case of linked pulse sequences: linked wait.

Go to the Configuration Window, set the DA output for the control of the RSC.
